My love for travel started before I can even remember. My background is a mixture of the utmost of Northern Europe and the global south: Finnish Lapland meets Iran, and born in Stockholm. So the love for all corners of this planet is DEFINITELY in my DNA.
Since my childhood, I have traveled to destinations across multiple continents and destinations that were less common, and while the count is CURRENTLY on 78 countries, I actually don’t believe that counting countries and continents matter. Travel is about immersing yourself into a culture, to understand your place in this world in relation to the local culture that YOU are choosing to visit. And as such, as much as I love exploring new destinations, I am personally a huge fan of returning to locales where I have already traveled.
Some of my most incredible travel memories include summers and winters spent above the arctic circle, jungle trekking both in South America and south east Asia, diving with both white and black-tipped sharks, and spending nights in the desert with bedouins. From watching the wildlife congregate at the watering holes of the Serengeti at sunrise, to galloping through the Sahara towards the pyramids on an Arabian horse and riding the Transsiberian railroad, I have learned my travel lessons – the good, bad, and fun – and now use that first-hand experience to advise you in your journey. These experiences have shaped who I am, and I truly hope to bring the same dear memories and experiences to you.

Whether it’s listening to the waves on a quiet beach in southern Italy, watching the sunrise from a hot air balloon in Egypt, or walking through the forests of the dolomite mountains. My specialties include all things Italy and Europe, Safaris and eco tourism, honeymoons, wine & culinary trips, adventure travel and the lesser-known destinations around the world, and bespoke luxury travel.
Sustainable travel – what does it mean?
It means that on a foundational level, it is important to TravelByMitra to consciously design and curate every trip to create first-class experiences for my clients that leave them, the destinations they visit, and the local communities with whom they interact, better off.
I may have been born in Sweden, but with the world swirling in my DNA and being based out of Rome for almost 20 years, two decades dedicated to curating tours, history and travel – the world itself is truly my home, and I’d love nothing more than to share that with you.
When I am not traveling, I enjoy continued learning and studying of the history of Rome, Egypt and other ancient worlds, creating content of Rome and her surroundings, and dedicating my time and company profit to support non-profits like student travel, as I firmly believe that education needs to be about opportunities and not privilege. TravelByMitra also supports animal non-profits all around the world as well, and multiple yearly charities in support with OIAA.
